Christmas Event!
Permalink Closed

What, in August you say?  Well, no, but perhaps we should start thinking about it now as we all know how everybody's social calendar gets booked up in the most Seasonal time of year for celebrations!

Anybody have any suggestions, dates, places, ideas, plans they would like to see happen?  Bring it on!!  The sooner we plan this shindig, the more people who will be able to come and the better time everyone will have!

Please post here or email me privately if you got something to say!  After all, its *your* event, you should have some input!

So it was suggested at our recent MBGA meeting that perhaps we could hold our Christmas event at our church (aka Tannasaurus's church that we had one of our first potlucks at oh so long ago) and perhas have it catered. This event could take place in December before or even after Christmas. (when the whole busy rush is over somewhat)

What does everyone think about this? I can set up a poll if need be.

This sounds like a good plan to me! I would love a Christmas MBGA event! What would be the cost for each person if it is catered? It would be nice to have an event where we could all sit down and enjoy it, rather than the organizers being really harried and busy to get everything done.

Could we set up a Secret Santa? I wonder how that would work...?
Anyways, hopefully we can find a date that works for everyone!

But running around like a chicken with my head cut off is oh so enjoyable!

Secret Santa is definitely doable if there is interest! Geocaching related gifts, of course! (Not necessary but always appreciated)

The gift exchange worked out well last year.  Everyone brough a wrapped gift worth about $10.  And we took turns picking and stealing (the rules are pretty lengthy, and probably doesn't need to be listed here for now).

I would suggest either Wednesday the 27th, or Thursday the 28th.  That way people will have their Christmas finished, and it's before the New Year's Weekend.

I'm OK with either a restaurant or a catered affair.  Does anyone know of any good caterers?  We'd probably have to book them fairly soon.

BTW, fantastic job on the blitz event Tobey!  You've got a real knack for this organization thing!  Anything you do for this event will be wonderful   Let me know if you need any assistance ... I could be your elf

I take little to no credit for the event this past Saturday - that was all TurdleEggs and the TurdleFemme.  They did a superb job, I really didn't do too much at all.

But having said that, I'd like a raise, please!

The evening school is done would be perfect for us, Dec 22. We have family gatherings until the 28th after that would ya believe with maybe a day between. And then nothing up til school starts again. But you gotta do what you gotta do! Just telling you what our 2 weeks off looks like! Keep polling. i think celebrating just after New Years would be excellent but I guess that is more like a Happy New Years Event. We'll give it our best to try to make it whenever but naturally Family first!

Why not have the event earlier in December before people get into the full Christmas rush.  I'd recommend December 2nd or 9th as a better date for the event.  I'd be happy to help organize if you want.

I think I'll do a poll.  Watch for it soon!
