I can't believe it!!! I went to the MBGA meeting last night and when I got home, the only thing I can think of is I must have put my gpsr on top of my car, and when I went to work this morning it fell off onto the street. Well a kind woman who had found it turned on the unit and returned it back to me today!! Ever since day one when I put my information on the start-up page on the gpsr I always thought "Who would ever return this to me if they found it?" Well it shows that the world is full of good people. So thank-you to the woman who returned back to me my gpsr (the one I didn't even know was missing) And remember, if you can enter your data on the start-up page you should do it because who knows maybe one day you'll get an email explaining that they have the gps unit you didn't even know you lost.

If a cache falls into the woods, would it ever be found?
good for you,it shows there are still honest people out there in the city, thats the kind of story we need to read once in awhile, just to remind us who we are,i too have my address on my geko opun starting up,always thought if i was lying in the ditch, they could look up my address and notify my kin,but i like your outcome better, are you sure your not a bit irish ?,.
I'd like to think it could never happen to me, but I've already lost a cell phone and a cordless phone in the same way. My name and ph.# are now on my start up page.
ps MI where can I rent a kayak?

Lost off the top of a car - that is the way many things go. I added my name and contact to my GPS60 as soon as it came out of the box. To bad I can't add the same info to all of my stuff. Stuntman - kayak rentals: Wilderness Supply (ferry road), MEC (Portage), Wave Track off Speers. These are the places I use to rent canoes and kayaks.
My immediate thoughts were: With an address I'd definitely return it. Near a geocache and I'd mention it on the nearest cache site and on a forum (but not the make/model). But without an address and nowhere near a geocache? It would be a struggle to bring it to a police station and leave it there. Just my thoughts on personal examination.
As one who has lost things and have had them returned. What joy and hope in humankind fills your heart when this happens. We are really happy for you.
A different question - would house insurance cover an expensive GPS or how would you insure it?

This is probably best answered by Spaceman_Baz, our resident insurance broker, but I would think that it is covered. However since as things go, it's a relatively inexpensive article to have to make a claim on it. Perhaps putting a rider on it would be better. Baz? What do you think?

I actually found a GPS sitting beside a cache once. I was 2nd to find that cache, so it wasn't difficult to figure out who'd left it there. I emailed him to let him know I had it, and like MI, he hadn't realized he'd even lost it yet. MI - glad to hear you got your GPS back.
