Disappointed with new Google Earth
Permalink Closed

Just downloaded the newest upgrade to Google Earth and am fairly disappointed.  There's a lot I'm bothered by but the most relevant complaint to share here is the upgrade's failure to relate with the geocaching.com KML function that I ran on my old version.  The old version showed geocaching placemarks with identifiable icons so that you immediately knew whether it was a traditional cache, multi-cache, puzzle cache, etc.  The upgrade shows all geocaches the same with a generic thumbtack placemark.  You must then visit the geocaching.com website link to determine what type of cache you are looking at.

I emailed Google Earth Help but of course they don't read individual queries.  They only generate a reply based on words in your email, I presume.  Regardless, nothing they sent me came close to addressing the concern I expressed.

If anyone has found a way to get this new version to interface effectively with the KML function, please let me know as it is quite possible that I just haven't figured it out yet.  I'm computer smart, but I'm no computer genius.

Thanks

I found another issue with the latest v4 build. It has some time window functionality, by default it won't show all waypoints when you load a gpx.
