I've always wondered if cachers ignore close ones, or knock them off first. Or do you have a close one that still hasnt been found for various reasons.
And I know for some of you more obsessive cachers, your closest probably requires crossing a border. :)
BTW, my closest is Lotto 6/49 - District 2 by ertyu (GCX8YE), 3.3km away. It has been eluding me for a while.
This is the only cache that comes up in our closest search. We almost don't want to do it because then our closest search will come up blank. How depressing.

The closest cache to my home is a multi-cache that involves, I think, a trip across the city at least once (if not more). I am waiting until I am sure so I don't do 40+km on my bike and find out I was wrong. Being wrong in wet cold rainy (snowy) weather is a real downer The starting point is just under 900m.
The next is a ? that I just don't get. Someday I will actually go and look and hope a light goes on. 1.8km
Finally a traditional cache that I can't find at 2.2km
Unlike Dragonfreys I live in a place with a fairly high density of caches so I can pick the ones that look interesting or are on a route that I am going anyway.
The unfound is closest to me is wacko willy and I just cant get it. it is .2 from my house I have considedered starting a grid search of assinaboine forest.
Closest to my house is Greetings from Belgium 2, but it's my cache (0.3 miles). Next closest is Norwood Blitz at .4 miles. The closest unfound is Patriot Game which I just haven't found the time to work on yet. It's 0.5 miles from my house. Given the Gears is also .5 from my house. That was just recently replaced though, so I could go find that now.
I have 380 unfound caches within the 80 km radius that GC lists (542 total caches).
The closest unfound cache is Minty Cache @ .82km. But that one is my wife's. So I can't count that.
The closest unfound that I could potentially find is Stuntman's Buoy oh Buoy @ 2.6km, but it is requiring maintenance.
So this brings us to PGP (Pretty Good Puzzle) by Some Jerk @ 3.1km. This one will surely haunt me for a while. I am not quite bright enough to crack this one...yet.
And finally - the cache I have ignored for no good reason - Woody by Northernsoul @ 3.5km. I can't say why, I just havent put in the effort.
I have 162 unfound caches within 80km of my house. Sounds like it's gonna be a busy winter. Who wants to go caching?
The default search radius is 80 km, but by adding "&dist=100" to url, the distance can be increased to 100 miles (160 km). Actually it can be changed to any distance up to 1000 miles.
Closest unfound caches: W 7.7 km Heidi Hide, Heidi Home (New - just published on Tuesday) SW 9.4 km Conquista Del Mundo - Kamchatka SW 12.13 km J.B.'s End (New - just published last Saturday)
Closest Found Cache: NE 0.66 km Collector Edition ' J ' (Archived) Closest Active Cache: N 0.96 km Floodway - Dunning (Our Cache) Closest Found Cache (Active): NE 1.8 km Bogalicious
Unfound within 80 km: 94 Total within 80 km: 546 Unfound within 160 km: 238 Total within 160 km: 778 When we started on Apr 01/04, there were 54 within 160 km. By Oct 20/04, 44 new caches had been placed but there were only 6caches within 100 miles that we had not found. One has since been archived; one has not been found by anyone since May 20/04; three we are ignoring due to difficult terrain (6 hr hike or overnight canoe trip) and one we still haven't gotten around to doing - Rainbow's End.
Unfound within 1000 miles: 69899 Total within 1000 miles: 70570
Furthest unfound cache (10486 miles): Cape Leeuwin Dani - That's only about 100 miles from your farthest - Maybe we should go together and knock them both off.
I set my “home coordinates” to where I work in Winnipeg.
The closest cache is Electrical Museum (Scrabble-D) (mine). The closest cache I haven’t found is Park Lane Pulley. I plan on going for it one day - I guess I’m just waiting for the right moment :)
I try and save the Winnipeg caches for last so I know I’ve always got a cache to find in the big city if someone wants to go caching or I’ve got some time to kill in some part of town. I’ve still got 45 active caches in Winnipeg to find. Actually, I like to leave some caches unfound in any area (Winnipeg and rural). I like knowing I’ve still got caches to find.
If I set my home coordinates to where I sleep, the closest cache is at my deck. Okay, that’s an event and doesn’t really count :) The next closest is Cemetery Crawl (mine). The closest cache I haven’t found is Pando (34.75 km).
So this brings us to PGP (Pretty Good Puzzle) by Some Jerk @ 3.1km. This one will surely haunt me for a while. I am not quite bright enough to crack this one...yet.
The next one that is active is: Park Lane Pulley is 3.6km SW. This one is just a matter of finding the time to stop in with the appropriate caching tools so that I don't add to the environmental destruction happening here.
I am running out of caching possibilities without having to take a big road trip.
So I'm planning a couple of those to keep me from bouncing off the walls from caching withdrawl :)
I don't really cache based on proximity to my house -- in fact, the further away, the more I like the cache, since it shows the mileage I am willing to put it for a cache. I always think that since they are close to home, I can get them anytime... and then it takes me ages to get to them!
Some Jerk seems to be popular today as his is also the closest unfound to my house at 1.1 km away (PGP Cache) but unlike certain dim reptiles, I *am* able to figure this puzzle out but just haven't bothered to yet...
The next closest is In Seine at 1.8 km away which we've attempted once and could not locate the first stage. We simply haven't been back yet to try again. For the longest time, it was my closest unfound cache until Some Jerk came along!
There are 4 caches under a km away which I've long ago found.

Really dead end cache shows the closest due to where Geocaching.com considers the postal code really is. The true close one is #3 Eric the Ent, it is 26 feet away.
Well, I own 3 of the 5 caches within 1 kilometre of my house. The nearest being At the Blitzing Post, a staggering 10 metres (if that) from my back door.
The nearest cache owned by another is third on the list, and is the (in)famous Park Lane Pulley, about 700 metres away.
If I want a cache I haven't found yet, then Greetings from Belgium 2 (6th down) is where I'm headed -- a brisk 1,100 metre jaunt.
And lastly, my Dani number (unfound within 5k) is 43.
My Dani number (not found within 5km) is now 25 but 7 of those are disabled. I have 1 cache left within 3km of my place but it's also disabled (Conquista Del Mundo - Ukraine).

Since the Dani number appears to be the ruler by which we are measured by I will bend to the collective will - my Dani number is 13 unfound out of 70 total. This gives a Dani ratio of 0.19. Using a ratio should help those individuals living in cache poor areas and provide more fair comparisons of cache coverage.
I like where this is going. If I use the dani number for my “true” home coordinates and then apply the burchil ratio, I get zero caches found within five km out of a possible total of zero. Zero into anything is infinity therefore the burchil theorem proves I have an infinite number of caches within 5 km of my house to find. Gotta go! If you don’t hear from me in the next two months, send batteries.
