Anyone else in Winnipeg interested in entering the Great Canadian TB Race 2006?
I'm working on a new TB to enter into the race and thought I'd see if anyone wanted to race against me. I'd be willing to gather up the TB's and send them off to Utsman in January.

Yes ustman mentions something about special concesions for racers from the 2004 race as it doesn't seem any prizes were awarded as no TB made 10 provinces/Territories in the alotted time for the race.
I did move one racer "Screech" from the 2004 race from Speedy Creek to Winnipeg but at that time the race was over even though Screech TB was the only one to make it to Manitoba. Personally, if no TB's have made it in the alooted time, I think they should extend the race until the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes can be awarded. MHz
The race organizer disappeared for a while and the website stopped updating, there were never any prizes organized and the whole thing just fell apart.
I did help Perpendicular Migration and Little Quad from the 2003 get into Ontario. Perpendicular Migration got 3rd as a result and the owner sent me a TB from his prize loot which ended up becoming my 2004 racer which disappeared in Ontario this year....
My travelbug "Smokey" actually won the 2003 Great Canadian Travelbug race. It was a toy Fire Truck from New York. It didn't make all 10 provinces/territories in the allotted time, but it was the only one to hit 7 provinces. I actually had that travelbug come back to me as someone brought it to an event I attended in Hamilton, ON (after the race). I then moved it to Winnipeg myself on my next visit, and it subsequently disappeared when MI's Go Fly a Kite cache went missing.
It was kind of funny, because my brother (Marvin_From_Mars) placed second in that race with his East Bound and Down travelbug (a toy semi).
I won an El Diablo Hiking Staff for placing first and it's still one of my prized possessions. I had them customize it slightly for me to add my junglehair stamp and a canadian flag, as well as having my caching name put on there.

Alright! A TB comes back from the unkown! I've already lost a couple but I guess that proves they may turn up eventually! Are you racing this year ertyu?
I have contacted Utsman and let him know my plans for the new year and he says that he's heard from several groups who are also mass mailing TB's to him. Looks like there certainly will be some pretty good compeition this time round.
As for TB tags, I used my last one for Tear Around TB but I suspect I will be getting some for xmas. If I don't, I'd be happy to order a bunch. MHz
Just to let people know if they have thier Race TB's ready to go, I will be happy to pick them up at the Winter Soiree. Please do not drop your bugs on The Winter Soiree page as the logs need to be clean for the race. Once I've collected all TB's, I will mail them off to Utsman and I'm sure he will be in contact with you all as to where they need to be dropped or handed off to him. Don't foreget to register your TB with Utsman via the Race page! Thanks! Paula
I know 3T's&aG almost has one reasy to go and The Adventure Kids are thinking about it. Is there anyone else interested in entering the race? I hope to send off these TB's by the end of January is not before.
I forgot to take a pic of my travelbug before I dropped it off. If you have a digital camera, would you mind snapping a pic of my little corvette before you mail them off, thanks!

No problem. Should have something off to you tonight. MHz
NMRider and Wild About Cache will be putting in an entry but our bugs won't be ready until very late January (ie after Jan 28th.) I'll drop you a line around that timeframe and if you still haven't sent them by then, we can hook-up. If you are ready to go before then, we can get them to Utsman ourselves.

OK I'll keep that in mind. It really depends if you can get them anywhere near Winnipeg such that I can pick them up from you. If not it may be just as easy for you to mail them directly to Utsman. I'll shoot you an e-mail before I send them off just in case it works out that I can send them with the bunch. After all the whole bunch doesn't need to be there until March 1 but I'd like to give Utsman some time to organise them before he releases them. MHz
Another TB added to the bunch: Canadian Eh? by 3T's&aG. Got to like a bug smaller than it's dog tag!
For those TB's that didn't have mission cards printed, I have printed them except for junglehairs as she may add a picture yet to her bugs page and Stuntman's as it doesn't really have it's goal listed on it's TB page or a picture of his poker chip. Stuntman, if you'd like a picture taken and sent to you so you can put it up on the page, let me know. I'd be happy to do that for you.
Utsman has told me that he will add mission cards (sheets) to those TB's that he gets without mission cards so that shouldn't be a problem.
Great, glad to see Utsman has listed all the Tb's I had told him about. 3T's&aG will be added there when either T or myself lets Utsman know it exists. MHz
That makes 8 TB's in all and I have shipped them all off this morning. Since the idea behind TB's is to track thier movements, I sent them via Canada Post Express where you can track them at www.canadapost.ca with tracking number 58 057 643 824
I've warned Utsman that they are coming so he should have them early next week.
Thanks for all the competition and good luck in the race! MHz
The TB's have arrived and all 8 are accounted for making the total TB collected by Utsman so far to 14 racers. Manitoba racers are certainly dominating the line up!
Looks like he's had to push the start of the race until March 5 which lies on a weekend instead of a weekday as March 1 does. Completely understandable as work does get in the way of geocaching!
