Finding a Cache

Grab EasyGPS from the GC.com website. You can download the waypoint to a LOC or GPX file and then use the cable that came with your Legend to write it to the GPS.

Either that, or you can key the waypoint into your GPS by picking "Mark" from the Main Menu. Just print out the cache page to bring with you and you're all set!

Downloading more software is not necessary, but it helps when managing multiple waypoints.

Using your GPS to find your first cache is as easy as entering the listed co-ords on geocaching.com into your hand held. If it is your first cache as you say, learning to input the co-ords manually will help you get to know your GPS better.

Start by going to your mark a waypoint page then add the new waypoint and name it.

I suggest to start by finding a cache close to home with low difficulty. A 1/1 for example, and at least a regular size, (especially in winter) a 8 x 12 inch rubbermade container or ammo box ect. all of this info is listed along with the cache you want to find.

Now get out there. The-Stuntman

The Stuntman is right; you done need any software to start; just manually enter the coordinates.

1/1 (Difficulty =1 & Terrain =1 ) is a good place to start, but the cache should be Winter Friendly.

What part of the city (or province) are you from? I might be able to recommend a few starter caches.

Thanks for your help, I was able to enter waypoints and have since found 9 caches in south Winnipeg. Gps is working great and I'm amazed by the accuracy. As the name Fantastic4 was taken in Geocaching.com I had to rename to MosquitoLovers. I think we are getting the hang of it. My son and I are heading for the assiniboine park area on Friday.
