Well, I picked up a new toy (a Lowrance iFinder M+M) a couple of weeks ago, and am very happy with it, with the exception of how it aquires WAAS sats.
Mapping software is available for it, but having never used a mapping GPS, (let alone Lowrance's specific version of the software and/or data) I'm not sure I want to put down $150 for something that I turn out not to like.
Lowrance sets up their mapping software to tie the map data to the SD card it is written to, and allows 5 cards to be registered to a particular install of the software. Is there anyone who owns a copy of the Lowrance MapCreate software who is willing to loan me an SD card with a Winnipeg map on it for a week or two? Drop me an email at grnbrg@grnbrg.org.

Well, I shelled out the $150.00, and I must say I like it. Kudos to GPS Central, who had it at my door less than 24 hours after I submitted the order.....

The internet is a wonderful thing... :) I like the maps, and would like to encourage others to purchase their own copy. So, courtesy of some judicious Googling, here is a sample map file, containing map data from the northeast and southwest corners of the city. Copy the file to your SD card, and it should Just Work. To get more than that, you'll need to buy the product.
