We own a campground located 20 mins northwest of Winnipeg and are new to geocaching. We run special events/weekends throughout the summer and were thinking of doing a geocaching weekend. We would like to have something to interest both the experienced and new geocachers. What we had in mind was to place some caches within the area (maximum travel time of about 15 mins from our resort) for the more experienced. We would also like to have a presentation/demonstration for newcomers. We would place some easier caches around our property for them to try their newfound knowledge.
What I am wondering is if anyone is interested in joining us for this weekend? Also, is anyone interested in helping us with the presentation and introducing some new people to geocaching? You can check out our resort at www.rubberduckyresort.com . We would be looking at a weekend in August otherwise the date is still fairly open.
Depending on the weekend, it would be fun to part of a weekend like this. We have gone to a similar weekend for a church group and had lots fun with it.
I would definately be interested in a weekend like this. Your resort is right on the way to my cottage at Twin Lakes, so you're located quite conveniently! Let me know of any developments for this event.
We have decided on August 11-13 for the weekend. Details are at www.rubberduckyresort.com events page. I also send out updates by email, send me an email to be put on the list.
Being the Training and Workshop co-ordinator for the MBGA, I will be there giving caching tips to people out for the geocaching weekend. I will be talking about some basic do's and don'ts of geocaching, as well as some tips on GPS navigation and finding your first cache. Stay tuned to this forum or contact the Rubber Ducky Resort for more info.
Thanks again Sheri for the invite.
See you there.
